Conventional surgery

When we speak about conventional surgery in gynecology we mean the open abdomen  procedure, surgery using a scalpel (as opposed to laser surgery, cryosurgery, etc). It is widely used and accepted by most gynecologist.

An “open” surgery means the cutting of skin and tissues so that the surgeon has a full view of the structures or organs involved.
