Oncologic counseling
Having a personal or family history of breast or ovarian cancer can increase your risk of developing these cancers (or getting cancer again).
Genetic testing can tell if you have inherited an abnormal gene that increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Many women who are candidates for genetic testing are offered testing for alterations (mutations) in several genes associated with hereditary breast/ovarian cancer.
Oncologic counseling is important before and after testing. Dr Davidovic-Grigoraki can help answer your questions about the testing and can help you understand what is involved. If you test positive for a gene alteration, there may be steps you can take to find cancer early or to decrease your risks.
Discuss with Dr Davidovic-Grigoraki should you consider genetic testing, which risk of cancer do you have and what you can do after testing.
